These lower cost devices have been specifically developed for use in dental surgeries, being designed for the complete removal of protein prior to instruments being inserted into a disfinctor washer. The removal of protein is a critical requirement in achieving consistent sterility. It is widely accepted in decontamination that high temperature washers will not completely remove protein and as such can enable residual amounts to remain on the instrument after processing.
Protein cannot consistently be removed by steam sterilisation.
These devices will also deliver a high log reduction in the region of 5 on heavily soiled instruments and in the region of 6 on lightly soiled instruments, being a higher log reduction than most disinfector washers.
